Choose between an early morning or late afternoon tour to view humpback whales and other marine mammals. This tour is designed for photographers, videographers and other guests particularly interested in taking advantage of the beautiful lighting in Frederick Sound early and late in the day!
We will share our years of experience to help you get aligned for that perfect shot and give you extra pointers on photographing Alaska’s magnificent wildlife. You’ll never feel rushed as we spend as much time as we need to capture the perfectly composed image.
The boat is equipped with a hydrophone so we can listen to the whales as well as watch!
We limit our tours to private groups of up to 6 guests for a personalized experience. All tours include tons of natural history information!
SPECIAL NOTE: Due to the rising fuel costs, there may be a fuel surcharge that will be calculated and added to your subtotal on the day of your trip.
Departure & Return Location
The boat departs from the Middle Harbor. We meet at the top of the ramp and walk down to the boat together.

What to Expect
Our itinerary is flexible, and we will travel by powerboat to wherever the whales are feeding in Frederick Sound. In addition to humpback whales, we may see sea lions, seals, porpoises, orcas, and a variety of sea birds. We will customize the trip to capture those perfect shots you’ve been dreaming of!

Morning Tour Itinerary
We will meet at the Middle Boat Harbor at 5:00am for a prompt departure.
We will return to Petersburg Harbors by noon.
Afternoon Tour Itinerary
We will meet at the Middle Boat Harbor at 1:00pm for a prompt departure.
We will return to Petersburg Harbors by 8:00pm.
SPECIAL NOTE: Be sure to pack an evening meal as restaurants in Petersburg will be closed for the night before we return.
